Daily Word February 14, 2011 - "Great Love"

Romans 5:8
"But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
On this day every year, all of the conversation is dominated by one little word - "love".  A word thrown around and misunderstood by young and old alike in our culture.  But perhaps there is no greater definition of love given than that of Romans 5:8.  Here we find that the love God has for us was sacrificial.  When we were sinners, unusable and defiled by failure, Christ died for us.  He did not wait till we had something to offer him, as if we ever would.  Instead, he came at our most vulnerable state and died for us.  This is love.  Love is sacrificial.  Love erases the record of wrong.  Love gives of itself.  Perhaps if we would apply this definition to our marriages and relationships, we would have God honoring families.
